It was all Norm's fault
The Peloton assembled at the Stickleback parking lot under cloudy skies. Undaunted, Norm T.[almost unrecognizable in a red shirt], Jim, Doug, Bob, David A., Dave N., Wayne, John and Norm L. headed north on the Goose to Leechtown. Within the first few kilometres the sun came out to brighten the trail which was quite dusty due to the lack of rain in recent months.
Nothing special to report on the journey north. At Leechtown the conversation focused on the role of clicks on helping “free” websites earn money, even while we sleep, the negative effects of Adobe Flash * in your browser and the role of pot in the economies of BC,WA, CO, OR, and AK. Various members confirmed that the police already know where most of the underground grow-ops are thanks to thermal imaging, [you will find this interesting reading] and it was an important reason why BC Hydro wanted to instal smart meters.
With those issues resolved, we remounted for the downhill ride back to the Stickleback. All went smoothly until we were within 2 kilometres of the lunch stop, when John had a flat on the rear wheel of his new bike. Consensus was that the flat was due to Norm T proudly proclaiming earlier in the day that the Peloton had not experience a flat tire in some time. John demonstrated his skills and speedily replaced the offending inner tube, using one of a CO2 canister. If you are not sure about using the canister check out this video and be sure to follow this advice:
The metal canister will get to freezing point as it quickly discharges its gas — if you have bare fingers they’ll get stuck to it causing severe discomfort! Either wear long finger gloves or better still put some sort of sock over it — it’ll serve the double purpose of stopping the metal bottle rattling in your seat pack. Notice that some of these kits cover the canister as part of the design.
Everyone enjoyed lunch at the Stickleback after a most enjoyable ride in perfect conditions. Clam chowder with extra bannock was the most popular order. Over lunch there was discussion of Uber and the licensing of taxis, the emergence of Google’s driverless cars,** bannock - the duct tape of foods, the short sightedness of a friend who bought a top of the line Corvette with all the bells and whistles only to return it a few weeks later because he couldn’t get out of the bloody car! There was also some light hearted discussion of zip lining in seniors homes and hospitals - and in a more serious vein well check this out.
Norm T recommended we check out Grace and Frankie
A most enjoyable lunch had by all - especially when the group came close to putting all the lunches on Dave N’s credit card!!!
While Dave headed off to a meeting and John to cycle home, the rest of us drove home for a well earned siesta!
