Cycling hazard in Victoria, BC

Who we are?

Most of us moved to Victoria, BC within the last 4 years. Most are retired. Some have ridden all their lives, while others are returning to the bike. All are great company.

We are an unstructured group of friends who enjoy cycling and camaraderie in equal proportions.  We have all recently moved to live in Victoria BC, leaving behind diverse careers across Canada and around the world. When we first started in April  2012, there were only half a dozen, but have grown to 26. Given other commitments,  holidays etc., we usually have 10 - 12 in the Peloton. We don’t want to grow any bigger, but will happily share our experiences and encourage others to start up their own cycling activities.

We cycle somewhere within the greater Victoria region at the southern tip of Vancouver Island, at least once a week, but as time goes by, our addiction is such that we are on our bikes more frequently, riding farther and dare I say, faster.

Once a month, we have a co-ed bike ride when our spouses become part of the Peloton. In summer, a picnic is often part of the proceedings, while in winter breakfast is a popular alternative on rainy days!

With the passage of time, some traditions are emerging. They usually involve a ferry, not surprising when we live on an island e.g.

What we don’t have is:

  • a constitution
  • membership fees
  • an executive
