Post Christmas Ride
The ride today was completed in wintry conditions, by local standards! A group assembled outside Fol Epi at 9:30 and started up the Goose/ Lochside. A second group started at 10.00 from Lochside Park. A third group made an unofficial start from Michells at about 10:15. This precision timing coincided nicely as 9 stalwart riders continued together from Michells into a stiff and cold wind toward Sidney along the exposed section of the Lochside. It warmed only slightly as we approached the coffee stop but we were able to sit outside in the sun and out of the wind at the Georgia. What a great place to live and cycle!
Coffee chat was varied, the "Affluenza" defence of the young Texas drunk driver who killed 4 people and his re arrest after breaking parole, his mother also arrested as an accomplice. Hans surprise visit from his son driving from Calgary in a 1992 beater to say goodbye to another son who is moving to the Dutch Antilles, while Jack's daughter is in isolated Bella Coola. Various seasonal illnesses in families. The wind was more friendly on the ride back.
Thanks to Norm T for the words and John C was behind the camera.
HAPPY NEW YEAR to all.
A Post Hogmanay ride will be planned by Tom for Friday.
