I Cycle, Therefore I Am - apologies to Descartes
Cy and Ken were welcomed back to the Peloton, even if they hadn’t paid their annual dues!
No scatter start today with everyone assembling at Fol Epi in pleasant spring conditions ideal for a bike ride. The outward route followed the E & N trail with the last 100m completed at Esquimalt Rd. Note was taken of the cruise ship in for a “service” at the large dock facilities in Esquimalt Basin.
Once everyone arrived at the entrance to RRU, it was decided to go down the hill to the university cafeteria for coffee. Since the cafeteria was unusually busy, and it was warm and sunny outside, the Peloton congregated around two outside tables - a table of 6 and a table of 4. One of the points of discussion was the Descartes quote on the metal plate attached to the picnic table -“it is not enough to have a good mind, the main thing is to use it well” Upon some reflection it was agreed that the quote didn’t apply to us. BTW if you want some other Descartes quotes check here.
Other topics of discussion included “would we compete in the Rio Olympics if eligible?” the answer was yes since we wouldn’t get pregnant. One person was heard to say, “well, you never know…”
The high rates of cannabis prescribed to veterans who are getting well over the maximum daily dosage recommended by health officials.
The last topic was that the author of the blog could include anything he felt like because no one else could remember what had been discussed by the time the blog is uploaded.
Before departure, a “grad photo" of today’s Peloton was taken.
Upon departure there was a staggered shotgun exit! With John heading off to Sooke Potholes, while the others returned home by various routes.
