Wild and Woolly
Five intrepid riders left Fol Epi in cold damp conditions en route for the coffee shop at Royal Roads University. Despite finding another flat tire when retrieving his bike from the shed, James nursed his bike along the entire route without incident. Someone suggested a leaky valve, James suspects shed gremlins. By unanimous consent we opted for coffee rather than a loop of the lagoon and climb back up Metchosin Road.
After a few political jokes, coffee conversation focused on the recent cabinet appointments. David suggested that Trudeau Jnr might emulate Ronald Regan by providing strong simple messaging crafted by the bright young appointees. There was general concern that, notwithstanding a couple of western Cabinet ministers, the dominance of JT's advice is coming from Ontario and Quebec. On a more local level we heard that Jim had now completed the sale of his old condo and moved his newly acquired boat down to Sidney. There were congratulations for Jack on the birth of his first grandchild.
The ride back was slowed by the decreasing pressure in James' rear tire and the wet and slippery leaves adorning the track. Prepared by James J.
In an unrelated vein, thanks to John for drawing our attention to this safety video prepared by Cadel Evans, an Aussie cyclist of some repute. If you want to find out more click here. Unfortunately I can't find if the strips are available here in Canada.
In case you missed the item on the CBC about the study into the use of bicycle helmets, you can get it here. No matter what they say, I'm still going to wear mine!
