Gizmos
Nine riders (7 from Fol Epi met Jack at Colwood and Tom at RR) braved the threatened showers and headed for Mechosin cafe (Norm L was a no show because of back issues, again). The showers held off and a mix of sun and cloud was enjoyed on the outward trip. Coffee was taken at the outside tables by the petting zoo.
With the large numbers, the group split in two 5 & 4. Conversation at one table centred on matters of security. The possibility of hacking the new cars (taking control), stealing vans with garage door clickers so the thieves could drive into your garage and fill the van at their leisure, finding stolen cars with the FOB, shielding cards from RF readers etc. Jack pointed out that from experience it works to just leave your door wide open for the weekend since thieves will not enter such an obviously occupied house. High school typing classes were found by a few to be very useful in the present age (unless you spill beer on your keyboard) although the two thumb technique was starting to take over .
More riders have purchased or been given gizmos to record heart rate, speed and distance. As we would expect, Jack is taking a very analytical approach to his HR and average speed results - lesson learned? Slightly slower, but steady seems to work better
The ride back was uneventful with only a few liquid drops encountered. Although those with a longer ride home did get anywhere from damp to wet e.g. Norm T who racked up 62 kms. but the time he got home.
