Welcome back, Jack
7 riders assembled at Foi Epi. After James finished hugging a woman "friend" who just came by, we left for RRU via the great new E and N trail. What a great view of the Esquimalt harbour, navy ships and drydock operations. At RRU, 5 riders did the extra loop down to Ocean Blvd and up the steep hill on Lagoon Rd and Metchosin Rd back to Sooke Road and RRU for coffee with the group. On this leg we stayed on the paved roads as the short cut through RRU grounds was no doubt muddy from the rains. About 8 km extra: fun downhill reaching 55 km/ hr, not fun uphill. Ken W and Jack had also cycled to RRU and joined us for coffee. Jack is back to some riding but is still limited with getting around/ walking, etc. Wishing Jack a speedy recovery to full health. 😊. Conversation included minimum wage issues, unemployment, energy rich countries, Swiss local democracy, Vancouver offshore property sales/ tax avoidance, etc. RRU students are back in full class mode and we enjoyed the lower prices at the cafeteria. On the return ride several took the E and N trail while others followed the Goose towards Saanich. Overcast skies mostly but no rain and the sun was peaking out by the time we finished.
We know that cycling is good for us, and now a study at the University of Utrecht confirms this. No mention in the study on the impact of cinnamon buns on life expectancy!! Thanks Mike - on vacation in Europe.
And if you are interested in the latest in Bike Locks, the this is for you.
And no member of the Peloton would do this! Thanks Norm T
