Thanksgiving ride.
The post Thanksgiving ride started under cloudy, cool conditions - nonetheless Hans and Norm L were sufficiently hardy to wear shorts. The pattern of route mutations continued this week with Michel’s Farm acting as the assembly point. For those who drove, the usual parking spot was pre-empted in anticipation of a film shoot.
The Peloton headed north staying together along the Lochside to Wain Road where Jack and Norm L headed west along Wain while the rest [Norm T., John, Tom, Hans, Ian and David followed Lands End Road with everyone meeting up at Deep Cove Market. One table and chairs had dried sufficiently to allow us to sit out in the sun and enjoy our coffee. Service was less than stellar, indeed it was the staff who were grumpy rather than the”old men” - this is in stark contrast to the reception at Melinda’s.
This being the penultimate pre-election ride, discussion focused on the election without being too hot and heavy - advance poll experiences were shared and shown to be diverse across the CRD - ranging form no wait in Vic West to well over an hour at View Royal where despite the delays, voters were in a jovial mood. The one more serious issue referenced was the skullduggery in the “ethnic press” in Vancouver and Toronto.
The ride back was uneventful, except that all gave thanks for a great ride on a beautiful day in paradise!
